Ryan Willbur is…

Hello. My name is Ryan, and I am a barista. I’ve been making coffee since July of 2005, where I got my start in the Pacific Northwest.

I’ve now been in Los Angeles for three years and I amazed at how dynamic the culture here really is. It’s always evolving and the people are always changing. It’s really unlike any place I’ve lived before.

I’ve had the privilege of competing in several barista competitions. I competed in the 2009 United States Barista Championship, where I was honored to be a finalist and finished 4th. In 2010, I managed to snag second place in the Western Regional Barista Competition.

When I’m not making coffee you can find me making some music, brewing beer, cooking, or geeking out on some new piece of technology. I also love to travel and you’ll probably hear quite a bit about my travels on this blog.

I need to make it clear, the thoughts and opinions stated on this blog are my own. They are not necessarily the thoughts or opinions of anyone I work for.  At the same time, I love to hear other peoples thoughts and opinions, so feel free to comment on any of the posts, as discussion is encouraged.
